PLANNING A COMMUNITY EVENT?
Community events can generate a significant amount of waste. Please plan ahead to minimize the amount of waste created and ensure that any recyclables and compostables can be recovered and are not sent to the landfill.
Our Waste Prevention Guide for Community Events lists action items for prior, during, and after the event. The Guide is best suited for large events where foods and other goods are provided or sold, but many of the action items are appropriate for smaller events as well.

Ready to contact us for assistance with your waste collection plan?
Please be sure to request waste collection services several weeks before your event. We typically require 30 days notice for small events and 90 days for larger events. Fees may apply. Be sure to let us know if there are sponsorship opportunities.
California State Law AB 2176 applies to events with daily attendance exceeding 2,000 individuals, whether admission is charged or the event is free and city-sponsored. If this describes your event, a written waste prevention plan is required and a report must be submitted to the host city after the event. Our Guide (linked above) can be used to build a plan for your event. The button below will take you to the required report form.
